Ottawa Business Assistance Program
The city of Ottawa has a Business Assistance Program that is intended to assist local businesses wishing to improve client services in
both official languages; English and French. The program is funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage and is the solution of a needs
assessment undertaken by the City of Ottawa. Small business owners communicated that they needed help with improving their services,
advertising their products and recruiting qualified bilingual staff. Business Assistance Program activitites are now being managed and
coordinated by the Regroupement des gens d’affaires de la Capitale nationale (RGA).
This program will allow many businesses and associations such as Shopping centres, associations related to the hotel industry, business
improvement areas and chambers of commerce will be provided with the practical tools necessary to help them provide services in both
English and French.
Practical tools
•Reduced cost translation service – the BAP can cover up to 60 per cent of the cost; it will cost you only 8 cents per word;
•Spoken French workshops, tailored for the service industry ($15 per person for a 3-hour-season in groups of 5);
•Help to recruit bilingual staff. No-cost service in partnership with the University of Ottawa Career Services and Université de Québec en Outaouais

The Kanata Chamber of Commerce helps create positive business environments that will eventually contribute to the success of the Kanata,
Goulbourn and West Carleton business communities. This is done by providing leadership, representation, information and networking
opportunities.
Orléans Chamber of Commerce
The Orleans Chamber of Commerce was founded to promote the economic development of the Orleans community and to deliver benefits to its
members in an effort to help them achieve success. The chamber intends to bring business people together to create a strong and vibrant
economy and improve the quality of life of our community. The Chamber provides leadership to enhance the economy by focusing activities on
